She’s Not Fat She’s Just A Little Husky

Meet Maple.
I started a new job about 8 months ago and it didn’t take long to realize that I was in good company- a vast majority of my colleague’s are major dog lovers which is definitely one of my favourite things about working there 😉  As you might expect it takes time to get to know people in any new situation- but at a job where you’re the new kid on the block with people who have known one another for years….suffice to say I kept quiet for a few months and just observed waiting for my opportunities to find common threads and interests to link me to my new friends. With some it was music, or travel with a lot of others it was all things dog.  All but one that is…I was warned one day quietly but firmly to be aware that one of our girls had recently lost her dog tragically and that while she was handling it with a stiff upper lip I should be respectful of this.  I didn’t know her very well at the time but my heart ached for her loss and every time a dog was near I watched for her reaction. She lit up in their presence every single time and so when she announced the new addition to her family a month ago I was overjoyed for her.  I knew we had to get out and get some shots while her pup was still tiny and new!

Sweet Maple Sugar

We had a fantastic walk on a beach that was new to me (yay for new places to explore) and up into a beautiful field full of bright green grass and lots of pretty flowers…and pollen! We were all a little itchy eyed after the shoot but it was well worth it. We got some shots of Maple that I hope will be cherished for a lifetime.  A little maple sugar to sweeten their every day. May they have a long life together.

Introducing Satchi

In Japanese the word Satchi means “child of joy”.  I must say that over the past year and a bit our little Satchi has been (mostly) just that.  I will admit that it was not a joyous day when I found her chewing a hole in our leather sofa, nor was I filled with joy over the loss of several of my favourite shoes, articles of clothing and well just about anything made of wood, wool or leather as these materials seem to bring our girl a lot of joy. As she gets a little older she is no longer oblivious to what she is allowed to chew and she knows very well, as her guilt ridden face will indicate, when she is about to be scolded.  She chooses her moments quite cunningly and will now chew to remove our joy after having been out of the house just a little too long on a sunny afternoon without her.

Satchi is a Hungarian Vizsla and this means that after she has had her 2wice a day romps around the lake or chasing her ball at the beach, all she wants is a lap to crash on and she will take it without asking first! She is our angel and I can’t find the words to describe the love and yes the joy (at least once a day) that she has brought into my life. I’m fairly certain that while this brand new blog and business will essentially be about my photographic adventures with your four leggers, that there will be a post on our girl from time to time.  She most certainly does have many adventures of her own!
